I was knitting and sewing and plaiting and melting and wrapping and frantically trying to find all those peices of ribbon I knew I had SOMEWHERE....It was great! Unfotunatley I didnt have time to photograph everything...but heres what I did.
Vinyl bowls for my brother;
- Place an old vinyl (can be picked up for 25p in charity shops) in a hot oven, resting ontop of an oven proof dish/bowl/whatever
- Keep an eye on it but around 2-3mins should do
- Mould the vinyl by pressing it into a cool, decent sized ceramic bowl
- Arrange the edges as you wish, but be quick!
- If it all goes wrong, put it in the oven to make it plyable again
Ideal for tidying up messy brothers desk! you can also use little 7" vinyls to make ashtrays and the like, just stick a round beer-mat to the base.
This how I wrapped all my presents; newspaper. You are garanteed to have this stuff lying around and I love the way it looks, tied up with some fringing I didnt like from a scarf that I cut off and kept, and a personalised tag. Other tie-ing up things I used were, thin strips of patterned fabric, wool and real ribbon.
There were others that looked more impressive, but thsi was the only one left when I realised I hadnt photographed one. Boo!
I also made some fun jewellery to jazz up all those black things I bought for partying in. The bow was a brooch I have had for ages and the chain was found from a "buy this basket of broken jewllery for £10" jobby in Barnardos. Fantastic.
